About Publicbeat
Nice of you to meet us!
Originating out of San Antonio, Publicbeat has expanded its “Local first” philosophy to eight new cities including Austin, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The largest complaint in the Publicbeat office is that local culture has been slowly abandoned by mass media and advertising. Our goal is to bring people back to their own neighborhood’s culture by aiding in the discovery of local artists, political event and family events, amongst many other categories for exploration and discovery.
We, here at Publicbeat, cannot stress enough what local culture means to us. With members from many large cities we have found ourselves in the depths of the web searching through multiple bar sites, concert newsletters, and John and Jane's local blogs. After an exhaustive search of the world wide web we often found ourselves with shallow weekends and wanting more.
This is what we wanted Publicbeat to be, the one destination for all local events. We decided to build a site that scoured and collected event information from all across our target cities. Upon our launch we found that users of the site were excited with the concept but ultimately wanted more out of us. We, of course, immediately responded by adding a personalized calendar system, event recommendations, alerts, categorical events, and of course an easy and simple to use site. By listening to our users and trusting our inherent goal we have built a website where if you want to be local, you want to be at Publicbeat.
Or as our founders would say, “We want people to live in their unique cities once again.”
Find local events
The core of publicbeat is simply to allow users the ability to discover their local culture. From dancing to drinking, from art exhibits to poetry readings. Publicbeat's main goal is to get users in touch with the heartbeat of their city through our easy and intuitive interface.
Fill your calendar
Finding events on publicbeat is only half the fun. Once you know where you want to go, whether it be tomorrow or in a few months, you can add that event to your personalized calendar. With this organization you can easily view and manage your events.
Tell your friends
With integration to facebook and twitter, publicbeat allows its users to connect with their friends on a greater social level. By announcing your attendance to certain events or your preference for certain places you can show your friends what great things are happening in your neighborhood. Before you know it all your friends will be attending that great local band's concert with you.
Get recommendations
Once you start favoriting certain bands, events, and places. Publicbeat's in-depth service will allow tailor made recommendations. These recommendations will be specific to your interests, whether they be educational, environmental, or even if it's just a great place to get a bite to eat publicbeat will help find it for you.
